Hello there, This is a introduction to how we plan and rear our pups.... All our dogs are fed a very good quality natural diet at the time of conception the mum to be is solely fed everything organic right up until her pups are totally weaned and..the pups are also weaned on organic & natural foods so as to optimum their good health from day dot. To do this is expensive I would not breed pups if I had to rely on commercial food and such as my pups are not commercially turned out pups.... but happy well adjusted well reared little "pure"individuals , also the attention and dedication the pups get is second to none ....I am in no way saying my pups are better than another caring breeder. What I do say is I give them the very best chance and start to hopefully a long happy healthy life I believe quality natural food and holistic rearing does this but it is more hard work & involves considerably more expense & time.. on the breeders part.. but worth it when I believe I am building the foundations for their new owners to continue to build upon..
Researching alternative medicines and treatment and ever furthering my knowledge of the dog physically and emotionally are great hobbies and interests of mine I have studied vastly veterinary Homoeopathy for almost 8 years and also the effects of conventional vaccination for the same time which is why i do not conventional vaccinate my dogs.......English setter health , breeding & genetics.. are also a huge interest for which I have also hugely researched and once again is an interest i enjoy forever increasing my knowledge and have drawn my own conclusions to many things regarding our breed......English setters are wonderful dogs which draw you into their hearts and you owe it to them to know how they tick .so you can make informed choices regarding their lives....a dog is a dog....!!! many will say...!!!an English setter is an English setter and they have many of their own little quirks and peculiarity's .....only their breed share and you will come to recognise once you are dedicated and under their "spell" hence our name "Hocuspokus"....we are spellbound by them.......!!!! all our dogs are a huge part of our lives as a family and having puppies and planning them is such a huge joy but a very big commitment never taken lightly....our Puppies go onto homes whom either continue the Holistic lifestyle and rear as we do and Homeopathically immunise & continue to feed natural ..but like wise also homes who decide to conventionally rear...once in their ownership..I am open minded too both ways , all I expect is that if you do decide to go down the conventional route which especially first time dog owners may..then you feed the best quality and as natural as possible diet you can , You have a life long promise that I will be here always either in the background or in close contact what ever you prefer and would always take a dog back what ever the reason should circumstances change ..we keep in touch with all our puppies and so far we have regular visits from them and we also have invites to their homes which is great.. ...we are like one big family and any one who has one of our pups becomes an Honorary ."Hocuspokus" family member...!!!! I like to possibly arrange the homes for all my pups in advance even before birth some times, so it gives myself and the new owners time to get to know each other and keep in close contact right through ,this way I know that the owners are very sincere and not acquiring a pup on a whim I would never sell a pup to just anyone ..I have to be very certain of their intentions. and a owner prepared to wait for a puppy which most of my owners have from conception right through to 8 weeks when able to take home is a dedicated individual... I feel its like having a baby really you wait 9 months for the baby so you can prepare for the arrival the same should be for a pup.as pups require as much attention , thought and planning as that of a baby I know I have 2 grown up sons..
Every new owner is kept updated with the whole of the pup and litters life and development whilst here with regularly photos and contact if the owners have a computer all the better as pics can be sent via email at the very least several times a week ..although once pup has been chosen We admit to bombarding new owners with sometimes daily pics so you need a good photo storing file on your computer....!!!! We like to put ourselves in the new owners shoes and would know we would be delighted to see my pup grow from a day old right up to a 8 week pup and have those memories and photos to keep.. As I have a list always of potential new homes for all puppies planned depending on size of litter ,sex ,colour preference etc puppies are usually born with their new owners names stamped on them....!!!!!.usually new owners visit the pups for the first time at around 4 weeks if a pup is booked,. and if a choice is available then...or if not then because a little more time is needed possibly for ourselves to choose a pup... just to see all the pups which is nice, and possibly an idea of maybe the pup you Will eventually be taking home to join the family.. This is meant as an introductory to how we like too arrange homes for our pups just so as you know , we are dedicated to our dogs and puppies..should you feel a possible interest in a future pup ..please contact us and we go from there.... If we think you are suitable for a pup we will let you know once the mating takes place and inform you along the way and keep in touch if a pup is available for you once the litter is born, if you still require the pup a deposit is required as we will be turning away other potential good homes in your favour should we think you are able to offer a good caring home , the deposit is totally refundable if anything unforeseen should happen to the pups god forbid it never does..
Our next litter will be our fourth generation of Holistically reared and bred dogs/puppies for which We are very proud. all breeding animals are hip scored through the BVA /HD scheme . thank you for your interest Christina. not forgetting hubby George who is huge source of help with all the dogs care and puppy planning...and is equally as in love with our wonderful breed as I, a very patient man......!!!!!!!whom works all the hours god sends to pay for his Furry family's ever increasing needs..so that I can be "mum" to all our wonderful setter family.....bless him....
